The existence of wondrous marine creatures in our tiny atolls offers proof of a rich, mysterious underwater world that we still do not fully appreciate or understand. In fact, we know more about the moon than the deepest oceans. However, their vulnerable status also constitutes an indictment of our thoughtless exploitation of our seas.![]()
The threats faced by these iconic marine species and many more are ringing alarm bells in Lakshadweep. Awakening to the fact that the endangered marine lives to be protected to continue our life chain,we stood together and could win the approval of MoEF & CC who were kind enough to accept our request for deploying protection watchers in all islands to prevent wildlife offences in islands which inturn add momentum to the protection of richest marine diversity of Lakshadweep.![]()
I am forever grateful to Sri.Prakash Javadedkar,Hon’ble Cabinet Minister ,holding the portfolios of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for taking me in faith and showing high degree of concern towards the marine wildlife heritage of Lakshadweep by approving the proposal for Lakshadweep Marine Protection Force with the deployment of 350 committed youth as the protection watchers.Your concern is really touching sir.Thanks are also due to Sri.Dineswarsharma IPS,Hon’ble Administrator and Sri .Damodar Naik IFS ,Chief Wildlife Warden for stepping in and saving the day in this difficult project.So glad we have you two on board.Let this achievement scribbled in golden letters mark a brand new start in the protection and conservation of the dazzlingly beautiful marine lives of Lakshadweep.
